Kipling speaks

This is a quote from the Kipling story "The Head of the District".  A subaltern is speaking to his troopers before leading them out on a mission on the Northwest Frontier of India.  All of them are sick with fever.

"'O men!  If you die you will go to Hell.  Therefore endeavour to keep alive.  But if you go to Hell that place cannot be hotter than this place, and we are told that we shall there not suffer from fever.  Consequently be not afraid of dying.  File out there!'  They grinned and went."

I like that.
