2nd War

I forgot to mention something; it was the second war for the pilot I was flying with when they shot the missile at us. 36 years ago he was a pilot in HA(L)-3, the "Seawolves", a Navy helicopter attack squadron in Vietnam. They flew armed Hueys around the Mekong Delta in support of the Navy, Army and South Vietnamese operations.

Isn't that cool. You serve your country is a dramatic way; go on to a successful military and airline career, raise a family and then after you "retire" go back into the game, though this time in a drier climate.

For those of you who don't know much about helo ops in VN, all the eye-popping things you see in the movies, those guys actually did. For that matter helo ops are eye popping now. Fighting a determined enemy from a machine that flies low and slow always is. The difference is that in VN things were much more intense for a longer period of time. Thousands of helicopters went down in VN.
