Camp Bekongo
This is a photo of Camp Bekongo, 3 hours by pirogue up the Luilaka River from Monkoto, 28 or 29 kilometres as the crow (or the Caravan) flies. Some of the guards from Salonga National Park spent the last 2 months receiving their initial training there. One of the trainers asked to fly over so he could take some pictures.This is the whole camp I believe. And it is surrounded by a lot of trees and trees and trees. It was a bit hard to find from the air.

How hard is it to find the one spot without a tree? Just kidding. I imagine flying is alot like driving and you tend to steer where your eyes are looking, so you want to be looking ahead rather than down.
that is it exactly. when you are flying around low like that you must be very, very careful or you will follow your eyes right into the ground, especially when you are looking sideways and flying forward.
we found the place because the trainer had a gps with the coordinates progammed. he said, go that way for 28 km. okay go a little left, now a little right, steady steady....whoa! there it was.
