Jackal
There are a number of jackals living at this big base. They and the fox get very tolerant of humans and mostly go about their business paying us no heed. If you get within 5 yards or so they will walk or trot off but otherwise they ignore you. This jackal was just setting there enjoying the evening.

do the guys feed them?
we don't. if we fed them, somebody would get bitten eventually then animal control would have to kill them all.
i don't know about the others on the base.
Wow are Jackal's ugly. Ok, I realize that Jackal's are in fact ugly as a matter of course but - even as Jackal's go - this is one sorry looking Jackal. It looks a bit skinny - happy, but skinny.
Tony: i think jackals are good looking animals, sleek.
if you are a jackal in this desert, skinny is the best you can hope for.
