World Cup

The World Cup is followed with great interest here in Kinshasa and it has one unexpected benefit. My neighborhood is subject to blackouts in the evening as the power company tries to cope with demand far outstripping supply. The blackouts used to last for an unpredictable amount of time.

That is no longer the case. When we have a blackout, it will start after the broadcast of the 2nd game of the day is completed; and power will be restored just before the 3rd game starts.

Things will be worse for us after the matches are over.
